Blind Measuring & Fitting

PLEASE USE EXACT MEASUREMENTS - The more precise you are, the more precise we are. We cannot accept responsibility for measurement errors when ordering. We can also offer a measurement / fitting service for local customers.

We have text and video guides for different types of measurements (recess, actual or fabric width). Please use a steel tape measure when measuring as the cloth tape measures can stretch or bend and give false readings.

Please note for recess sizes we would make deductions to blind sizes given to ensure the blind fits within the recess. For more information on this please contact us on 0330 555 6677

Replacement Slats Measuring Guides

Actual Blind Size

Measuring for replacement slats - Standard Hangers

1) Unclip one of your current vertical blind slats and lay it down on a flat surface

2) Measure the length of the vertical blind fabric only as it lays on the table.
Do not include the any part of the hanger that sticks out of the fabric, and do not undo any stitching or glue. We advise using a metal tape measure for accurate measurements.

3) Use these exact measurements on our replacement slats for vertical blind products.

This is the standard way we produce all of our slats unless you ask for any other type of hanger.

Additional Information:
Hanger Hole Dimension : 6mm x
3mm

Recess Window

Measuring for replacement slats - DIY Hangers

1) Unclip one of your current vertical blind slats and lay it down on a flat surface

2) Measure the length of the vertical blind fabric only as it lays on the table.
Do not include the any part of the hanger, and do not undo any stitching or the fold at the top. We advise using a metal tape measure for accurate measurements.

3) We then add 5mm to this length and produce the slats with a sewn in hanger (this is the difference between standard DIY and sewn in hangers)

Please note, we do not supply the DIY hangers with any slats produced this way. We only produce slats in this method when requested.

New & Replacement Vertical Blind Measuring Guides

Measuring your windows to get your ideal blind size is not a difficult task, simply follow the 3 steps below. You can measure in centimeters, millimeters or inches, but please rememeber the more precise you are, the more precise we are.

Measuring your blind - RECESS

Measuring your blind - ACTUAL

Recess Window For a recess fitting blind please measure your window recess exactly. We always advise to measure the width and height of the recess in multiple places and quote the minimum values when ordering. We then make small deductions needed to ensure the blind fits perfectly into the recess.
Please Note: if the recess is less than 60mm / 2.5" deep, the window opens inwards or there are other obstructions the blind may have to be fitted outside the recess.
Actual Blind Size Please use this measurement method for fitting blinds outside the recess or if we have already sent you brackets for your unique windows. We recommend a window recess overlap of at least 60mm / 2.5" all round. This ensures that the window does not show on either side or obsure part of the window when fully raised.
Please Note: we do not make any deductions to the measurements given when using the actual blind size option.

1) Measure the width of your recess (wall to wall) in 3 different locations.
The most important measurement to write down is the smallest one.

2) Measure the drop (height) of your recess ( top to window sill) in 3 different locations.
Once again the most important measurement to write down is the smallest one.

3) Use these exact measurements throughout our website and ensure you select "Recess" as the measurement type.

1) Measure the width of your window and any overlap you require.
We advice an overlap of at least 6cm on the window recess.

2) Measure the drop (height) of your window and any overlap you require.
Once again we advice an overlap of at least 6cm on the window recess. Please note,  the drop given will be the overall blind drop (from the top of the rail to the bottom of the slats)

3) Use these exact measurements throughout our website and ensure you select "Actual" as the measurement type.

Fitting Brackets on a Blind with Side Control Chain

Brackets can be top, side or face fixed to any flat surface. They must be level to ensure the smooth operation of the blind.
Please read the complete instructions before attempting the fitting of the roller blind.
1. Calculate the spacing between the brackets, add 35mm (1 “) to the width of the blind fabric.
2. Fix the brackets so that the outsides of the brackets are the same distance apart as step 1. Test this sizing before drilling and fitting.
3. Fit the spring plunger into its bracket and push the blind into the bracket, depressing the plunger. With the locating hook pointing downwards and the chain guard lug at the top, place the hook into the vertical part of the ‘+’ shaped hole in the bracket. Allow the hook to drop downwards so that it locks into place in the bracket.

Operating a Blind with a Side Control Chain

To raise or lower the blind pull the side chain appropriately.

Making it Safe

Reduce the risk from looped blind cords and chains. An appropriate safety device has been included with your blind. Please ensure this device is installed as per the attached instructions included with it. Please, also read the safety information as per the Safety swing tag attached to your blind.
