Measuring Guide
Measuring for your new blinds is really straightforward, just see the guide below.
We recommend that you use a steel tape measure for accuracy
Decide the fitting position of the blind, within the recess [recess] or outside the recess [exact]
Recess: This is the measurement you need if your blind is to fit inside the window recess. Measure the full width and height of the recess [from plaster to plaster] and we will make the appropriate deductions to ensure a perfect fit.
Exact: This is the measurement you need if your blind is to hang outside the recess overlapping the window. In this case we will make the blind to your specified size with no deductions whatsoever.
For a Recess Measurement:
Width - Measure the inside width of the window at the top middle and bottom. Use the narrowest measurement of the three.
Height - Measure the height of the window at the left, centre and right. Use the shortest measurement of the three.
If there are any obstructions within the window recess, like projecting window handles, these will affect the position of where your blinds are fitted.
For an Exact Measurement:
Width - To minimize 'light leakage' it's recommended that the blind overlaps the window recess by at least 50mm each side.
Height - When measuring the height take into account the required space for the mounting bracket, a flat surface of a minimum 70mm is advisable for a secure fit.
The overlap at the bottom of the blind is a matter of personal choice but please take into account obstacles such as radiators.
Please note if you choose an Exact Measurement your blind will be made exactly to this size.
If you would prefer to make deductions yourself, please feel free and select the Exact Measurement , but we strongly advise to stick to our measuring guide.
